This Biodiversity Gallery in Porto is a museum powered by GEMA, pioneer in interactivity, facial recognition and 360º projection. Many solutions were developed for this museum:
Morphing video – Wolf and Dog: Morphing of different dog species, between paintings, drawings and sculptures, on a 42” LCD, with a white frame around it.
Diversity of scents: A box with 8 hoses and 8 buttons that, when pressed by the user, triggers specific scents, such as strawberry, chocolate and cinnamon, while a LED lighting is activated to recognize the elements.
Visions – 8 animals: A scenario containing a scale model of an aqueduct, water elements and a railway track with a moving, miniature train. Around it, the visitor can find 8 monocles, where it is possible to simulate the vision of 8 animals: snake, cow, spider, bee, worm, wolf, an owl and a hawk.
Genetic diversity of Snails: In a room, the visitor can find a display with thousands of snails. In the center of this display, there is a camera. The user takes a picture and, on the opposite side of the room, it is possible to see the user’s picture projected with different colors and textures, simulating Andy Warhol’s layouts. In the end, you can share this picture by email.
Chair with sounds: In this area, the visitor can sit back and experience the difference between the heartbeat of a human, a whale and a mouse.
Darwin: 5 videos illustrating different concepts of time lapses: plants growing in slow motion and an image of the Museum on Google Earth slowly drifting away.
Tetrapod: LCD screen where the user can watch the morphing video of a tetrapod.
Globe projection: In this museum, there are four projectors strategically placed to project in a huge globe in the middle of a room. Through a display touchscreen, visitors can select different contents that will be projected simultaneously on the globe. The projected themes focus on navigators’ trips, animal migrations, animal and plants domestication, the homo sapiens sapiens evolution on Earth and long course flights in a day.
Interactive photomaton: An app that allows users to take a picture and watch as their face is transformed in a different race. The visitor can choose between European, African and Asian. In the end, these pictures can be sent by email.
Sophia de Mello Breyner: Here the visitor can select between a few poems of this iconic Portuguese writer through a display touchscreen.
Tree of Life: An app made for this museum to show the evolution of species throughout time.
This venue benefits from our Onecore technology, that allows more centralized control of the equipment. Through an intelligent behaviour analysis software for each hardware device installed, this museum profits from an automated and easy management of its daily operation.
